Baton Rouge ready for its next crowning moment
BATON ROUGE - The city is ready to host the Miss USA pageant again this year.
The mayor's office has asked the Metro Council for $280,000 to cover expenses associated with hosting the event. Of the total cost, $230,000 will come from the city's general fund. The other $50,000 will be paid for with money from the Mayor-President's Economic Development program budget.
Miss USA 2014 was crowned at the River Center last summer. The city was featured throughout the live telecast.
Donald Trump, who owns the event, has not said where the event will take place this year, yet.
