Baton Rouge was ranked number seven out of ten cities for first-time buyers, according to Realtor.com, the official website of the National Association of Realtors.

The city, according to the site’s findings, has a median home price of $217,000 and has the highest share of mortgages (52 percent)  purchased by 25 to 35-year-olds among the markets that were studied.

The site filtered the 100 largest U.S. metropolitan areas based on affordability, inventory, mortgage availability and livability.

The National Association of Realtors reported in November that the number of first-time home buyers declined in 2015 for the third straight year and remained at its lowest point in nearly three decades.
