BATON ROUGE - Police have arrested a man in connection with a deadly shooting at an apartment complex earlier this year.

According to the Baton Rouge Police Department, 33-year-old Arthur Alexander was arrested by state police in New Orleans Tuesday night.

Alexander is accused of shooting 25-year-old Eddie Samuels at the Summer Grove apartments on Florida Boulevard on March 5. According to the arrest report, Samuels was at his uncle's condo the night of the shooting. At some point, Samuels took a phone call.

Authorities say that Samuels told the person on the phone he was stepping outside.  That was when Samuels' uncle heard the gunshots.

During an investigation, it was determined that Alexander was the person on the other end of the phone call.

While searching Alexander's car, authorities found a gun that was determined to be the murder weapon.

Alexander was booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison on one count of second-degree murder, illegal carrying of a weapon, and possession of a firearm by a person convicted of certain felonies.
