Baton Rouge mayor announces city cleanup target
Mayor Kip Holden announced today that a Mid City neighborhood would be the kick-off location for Baton Rouge's city-wide cleanup starting Monday.
The mayor said at a press conference today that Operation Restore Pride would start Monday in the Valley Park neighborhood, which is bounded by Perkins Road, Delta Street, College Drive and Wells Street.
Workers will clear and mow overgrown lots, remove abandoned vehicles, and take other steps to clean up the neighborhood such as painting and spraying for bugs at some residences.
The work will involve many branches of city government, including the Department of Public Works, police and fire departments, animal control, and Office of Community Development.
Mayor Holden said the work would begin Monday and continue throughout the week.
