Baton Rouge man killed in MS bank robbery
TUPELO, Miss. - A former Louisiana guardsman from Baton Rouge was killed Monday in a Tupelo bank robbery.
Cpl. Gale Stauffer, 38, was shot and killed when trying to stop a getaway car after a robbery while working as a Tupelo police officer.
Another officer was also shot and is listed in critical condition. His name has not been released.
WTVA-TV reports the bank and FBI are offering $100,000 for information leading to the gunmen.
The FBI says the killer may have driven a charcoal colored, medium-sized, four-door sedan, possibly a Chrysler 200 or a Honda of some type.
According to a Facebook page remembering Cpl. Stauffer, a funeral service will be held Friday, Dec. 27 in Tupelo.
