Baton Rouge man dies in fiery motorcycle crash
THIBODAUX- A man from Baton Rouge died on a highway in Lafourche Parish when his motorcycle crashed and caught on fire while he was pinned in the wreckage Thursday.
State Police said Thomas Grems, 54, died on LA 308 just after 4 p.m.
Grems was trapped between the pick-up that rear-ended his motorcycle. Investigators said Joseph Elfert, 87, didn't stop and hit Grems as traffic backed up.
A third vehicle, the one in front of Grems' motorcycle, was also also involved in the crash. The driver of that vehicle was taken to a hospital with minor injuries.
Alcohol is not suspected to have been a factor in the crash.
The incident remains under investigation, troopers said, and charges are pending.
