KENNER - Police arrested Donald Harris of Baton Rouge Tuesday after he stole a vehicle and led police on a chase.

Kenner Police's license plate recognition system received a "stolen hit" on a 2006 Honda Accord that had been reported stolen on Sept. 4.

Police spotted the stolen vehicle while patrolling on Airline Drive. When officials attempted to stop the vehicle, Harris refused and led police on a chase through Metairie and back into Kenner. While driving, Harris lost control of the vehicle and crashed into two telephone poles on Vintage Drive. Residents north of Vintage Drive lost power for two hours due to the crash.

Harris was transported to a local hospital where he was treated for his minor injuries. He was then released back into custody.

Harris faces several charges including possession of a stolen vehicle, aggravated flight from an officer, reckless operation, not being licensed to drive, and drug possession.
