Baton Rouge home to cheapest gas in USA
BATON ROUGE- A price war between competing stations helped the price for a gallon of regular gasoline drop to $1.77 Thursday. This made it the second-lowest in the country.
The only other city where a store was selling cheaper gas Thursday was in Oklahoma City for $1.68.
Costco and Sam's both were selling gas in East Baton Rouge for the low price; the two stores have been going back and forth for weeks.
New Orleans was home to the third cheapest gallon Thursday. A station there was selling fuel for $1.95.
The average price for a gallon of regular fuel in Baton Rouge was $2.28. Low prices are expected to be the new normal in 2015.
