BATON ROUGE- Troop 10118 and 10448 lit candles to remember whom they call their sisters.

Out of the 20 children killed in the Sandy Hook Elementary massacre, twelve of them were girls, and eight were girl scouts.

"I feel like it could've been our troop. it could've been any of our Daisies or Brownies," says Troop leader and mother Maureen Truehill. " We could've been hit and we would need that encouragement I think to actually move on," she adds.

Truehill says the December tragedy hit so close home for these girls despite the fact it happened in Connecticut.

So the troopers wrote notes, to their friends. They were girls they never met, but felt a bond with just the same, and sent them to heaven for them to read.

"When our names were on there I felt like they might see us and watch us and honor us," says 9-year-old Haven Franklin.

The troop leaders say they are planning more events to remember the victims.
