Baton Rouge expecting overflow, business from Super Bowl
BATON ROUGE - Baton Rouge tourism officials expect hotel rooms to be at least 90 percent full when New Orleans hosts the Super Bowl next month.
Visit Baton Rouge started a marketing campaign in NFL cities a few weeks ago. The focus is now centered on the remaining playoff teams.
The media blitz urges fans of those teams to take advantage of Baton Rouge hotels, restaurants and the airport. Doe's Eat Place owner Scott Overby says he expects a spike in customers based on the hotel reservations made so far.
There are three Mardi Gras parades and two outdoor concerts in Baton Rouge Super Bowl weekend. Tourism officials hope some people will stay in town for those activities before going to the game.
