BASTROP - Morehouse Parish sheriff's deputies have arrested a 17-year-old Bastrop High School student who somehow managed to get onto the campus with a 45-caliber, semi-automatic pistol and a loaded magazine on his body.

Morehouse Parish Schools Superintendent George Noflin tells The News-Star it was the student's parents who notified the school Monday that he might have a gun on campus.

Sheriff Mike Tubbs said the student was found in class, arrested and booked with carrying a firearm on a school campus by a student.

Deputies say no one was threatened.
