The city of Bastrop has been awarded a $1.8 million grant to develop an industrial park.
The hope is to lure new business to the city, which lost an International Paper Co. mill in 2009, along with 550 jobs.
Economic development officials say targeted businesses will include metal fabrication, basic chemical, agricultural chemicals and food processing.
The state is providing $350,000 for the federal Commerce Department grant, while the city is contributing $125,000.
