BAKER - Officials in Baker say more than 1,500 people have been rescued in the past two days from severe flooding.

15 of those people were rescued on Sunday alone but did not necessarily take place in the Baker area, according to city officials.

Shelters that remain active in the area include Southern University, the Jewel J. Newman Community Center and Scotlandville Magnet.

Curfew remains in effect in Baker until 8 a.m.

City of Baker government offices say they will reopen on Monday.
