Bail set in Addis murder-for-hire case
PORT ALLEN - A state district judge set bail at $500,000 during arraignment proceedings for a woman accused of the murder-for-hire killing of her husband in West Baton Rouge Parish.
43-year-old Monique Kitts entered a not guilty plea Wednesday to a charge of second-degree murder in the 2010 slaying of her husband Corey Kitts.
Authorities found Corey Kitts dead in the bedroom of his Addis home. Authorities say he had been shot three times in the head and neck at point-blank range.
Prosecutors have accused Monique Kitts of hiring someone to kill her husband so she could cash in on his insurance policy.
