Baby's ashes stolen in burglary
PHOENIX, ARIZONA- A woman is asking for her baby's ashes back after they were taken from a silver keepsake box in a burglary.
Alyssa Ruiz says she kept the ashes of her son, Matthew Isaiah Hernandez, in a plastic bag in the silver box but the bag was taken when thieves ransacked her apartment. They also took a laptop, television and other items. No arrests have been made and police say the investigation is ongoing.
Ruiz says she had the body of her son cremated because she didn't have enough money for a burial and asked thieves to return the ashes, no questions asked.
Her son died eight-years ago, next month.
