Baby not cured of AIDS
WASHINGTON- A girl in Mississippi born with the AIDS virus and in remission for years still has the HIV virus and is not cured.
Because doctors thought she was cured, she did not have medication for years.
The pronouncement is a setback to hopes that early treatment with HIV drugs might reverse the infection.
She is now back in treatment and doctors say she is doing well.
She's almost four and as recently as March, doctors said she seemed to be free of HIV despite not taking AIDS drugs.
