BATON ROUGE - A Baton Rouge man with an extensive criminal record, including seven simple burglary arrests and drug possession, is behind bars after he shot a relative in the chest during an argument.

39-year-old Clayton Colborn, Jr. was taken into custody on Aug. 2 and booked on charges of attempted second degree murder, illegal use of a weapon and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

East Baton Rouge Sheriff's Office deputies responded to the scene earlier this month where they found a victim with a single gunshot wound to the chest. According to the arrest report, Colborn is related to the victim, but the report did not make the family connection clear.

The victim was taken to Our Lady of the Lake Hospital where it was learned the bullet was lodged in his liver.

Colborn has an extensive criminal record including arrests for simple burglary, simple robbery and a deferred sentence for possession of methamphetamine.
