Authorities urging drivers to be safe in freezing conditions

With temperatures expected to be in the teens tonight in the Baton Rouge area, drivers should be wary of slick streets.

DOTD crews will roll out sand trucks overnight, to help prevent any icing on the roads.

Also, Baton Rouge Police will be have extra officers on the streets to keep you safe.

Be sure to tune in to News 2 for live reports on the weather, and any area closures if they happen.

    For the record, sand does not prevent icing.  It simply provides more traction in icy conditions.
