Authorities searching for stolen fireworks
SLIDELL - The St. Tammany Parish Sheriff's Office is looking for 19 cases of professional fireworks stolen from a truck near Slidell.
Capt. George Bonnett, the Sheriff's Office spokesman, says the Pyrotechnica company had planned to set them off for Bossier city's New Year's Eve show.
Bonnett said in a news release Tuesday that they were taken sometime between Dec. 23 and Dec. 29 from a locked box truck parked on fenced property.
Bonnett quotes a Pyrotechnica official as saying that if anyone without proper training or equipment lights them, it would cause a large and possibly fatal explosion.
