BATON ROUGE- An accused rapist from Dallas was questioned overnight at the Violent Crimes Unit in Baton Rouge.

Dallas Police said Van Draylan Dixson is suspected of nine rape cases in the Dallas/Fort Worth Area. Dixon's DNA connects him to four of those rapes so far. He fled Texas Monday, headed for Baton Rouge.

"There was contact between Dixon and individuals here in Dallas and those things right there is what allowed us to find him," said Dallas Police Major Jeff Cotoner. "I don't know why Louisiana and that's part of our investigation to see if there was any sort of affiliation."

The Dallas Police Department is expected to have more answers on the time line of events leading up to Dixon getting to Louisiana by Wednesday.

U.S. Marshal Kevin Harrison said his agency started looking for Dixson in Baton Rouge after Dallas officials informed them Monday that he was headed to the city on a bus.

"We showed his picture around to some of the people around there and they recognized that he may have gotten off the bus there and indicated that he may be looking for a place to stay," explained Harrison.

"I thought he was a pretty friendly guy, I didn't think he was a rapist at all but I mean you cant trust anybody these days," said a man at the bus station who saw Dixson and asked to remain anonymous.

Harrison said Dixson was only in town for about a day. Authorities checked to see if any sex crimes were reported in the area of town where Dixson was staying. None were reported.

Eventually, Dixson will be booked and extradited to Dallas.
