The longest cable-stayed bridge in the Western Hemisphere is officially connected, though not ready for commuters yet.
The John James Audobon Bridge connects Pointe Coupee and West Feliciana parishes, stretching 1/3 a mile over the Mississippi River.
Construction crews tell News-2 the bridge is about 92% complete but more work needs done to the deck before it can open.
Work is expected to be wrapped up in late summer 2011.
Stayed tuned to News-2 at 5 to see the bridge for yourself.
