BATON ROUGE - The Baton Rouge Ballet Theatre is gearing up for another production of The Nutcracker: A Tale from the Bayou and auditions were in full swing this weekend.

The theater group will select hundreds of kids to be a part of this year's ballet.

The children were auditioning for roles ranging from soldiers and mice to lambs and cherubs.

The Theatre says the children that will be a part of the ballet will benefit in more ways than one.

"It's a really great way to expose our community to the art of dance and to performing arts and it's a great opportunity for the children involved and the young dancers that are involved to work side by side with these great professional artists that we bring in," said Christy Benoit, the Development and Communications Director with BRBT.

The dates for the production will be December 20 at 2:00 p.m. And December 21 at 6:00 p.m. at the River Center Theatre for the Performing Arts.
