BATON ROUGE - State auditors say an electronic toll collection system implemented on the LA 1 Bridge in Leeville three years ago continues to struggle with glitches that have been preventing it from collecting some toll violations.
In a financial report released Monday, the state auditor's office said the Louisiana Transportation Authority has other problems, which include inaccurate violation notices to drivers who had paid their tolls, an unreliable auto-replenishment function and a lack of system documentation that has led to greater costs in developing alternate procedures.
The audit, done by the state auditor's office for the 2011 fiscal year, says the toll system brought in a little over $3.1 million, which is supposed to repay the borrowing costs used to build the bridge.
