NEW ORLEANS - Would-be robbers attacked two men in the French Quarter when their efforts were stymied.

New Orleans Police say a man was walking in the 700 block of Burgundy Street about 10:30 p.m. Thanksgiving night when two men attacked him with glass bottles, then pulled a knife after they knocked him to the ground. Someone passing by, however, intervened and the men fled.

An earlier attack occurred about 12:45 a.m. Thursday when a man and his daughter were walking in the 700 block of Bourbon Street. Police say an unknown black man approached and demanded money, but when the man refused to comply, the attacker punched him in the eye and ran away.
