BATON ROUGE - Louisiana State Sen. Dan Claitor stopped by 2une In Monday to talk about the hot topics on deck this week At the Capitol.
With just three weeks left in this legislative session, the major issue on the agenda is the budget, which is headed over from the House.
One piece of legislation authored by Sen. Claitor aims to tackle the alarming rise in heroin overdoses. If passed, Sen. Claitor's says his legislation would, "move the possible penalty from dealers from 15 to 99-years...the judge doesn't have to use it, but the option would be there."
Other topics that will be the focus of the next three weeks include more talk on drones, changes in TOPS requirements, promotion of the Tulane Scholarship and the athletic eligibility of Episcopal High School senior Clement Mubungwira.
