Superintendent Earl Martinez will be the chief of Assumption Parish schools for an additional two years.

The school board voted 8-1 to renew its contract with Martinez after the board gave Martinez a
favorable score in its annual evaluation process.

The extension keeps Martinez as the system's top executive through December 2012.
