From Assumption Parish:

The operations to control the oil well blowout that occurred yesterday are expected to take anywhere from five to ten days.

Air space has been closed over and near the area. An odor is also being noticed throughout the Paincourtville and Napoleonville areas.

LA 70 is still closed and traffic is being detoured to LA 996 and LA 1000.

A total of six homes and one business have been evacuated due to being within the one mile radius of the well blowout.

The company will start the beginning of the capping process late Friday.
