Assumption Parish interim sheriff to resign, makes way for sheriff elect
NAPOLEONVILLE- Assumption Interim Sheriff Bruce Prejean announced his upcoming resignation on Tuesday to make way for the new elected Sheriff, Leland Falcon.
Prejean made the announcement of his resignation through a post on the Assumption Parish Sheriff’s Office Facebook page on Tuesday. He says that his resignation will go into effect on Monday, May 9 at midnight.
Prejean took the position of Interim Sheriff when former Sheriff Mike Waguespack resigned in February after he lost his re-election bid to Falcon and accepted an offer to be CFO for RES Contractors, LLC.
Prejean was previously chief criminal deputy and has been the Interim Sheriff since then to make for a “smooth transition” from Waguespack to Falcon.
