Ascension Parish launches series of roadway construction projects
ASCENSION PARISH - Officials have announced the start of the first project in Ascension Parish's initiative to improve multiple roadways.
According to Parish President Kenny Matassa, construction crews have begun the first project of the Move Ascension Transportation initiative. Matassa said the $35 million series of projects aims to improve transportation corridors serving the Gonzales area and North Ascension.
The Parish Council recently approved the first of several projects, a proposal for improvements to Roddy Road between Airline Highway and Highway 42. The project will widen Roddy Road for safer and timelier travel.
The project includes three left-turn lanes at the Roddy/935 intersection, four left-turn lanes and one right-turn lane at the Roddy/621 intersection, and replacement of the bridge over Black Bayou.
