Ascension board projects budget surplus
GONZALES, La. - The Ascension Parish school district expects to achieve a budget surplus for the second consecutive year.
The Advocate reports the School Board has approved a 2013-14 budget that projects $201 million in general fund revenue, an increase of nearly $7 million from last year.
The anticipated general fund revenue exceeds expenses by about $600,000.
The board has faced budget shortfalls in six of the past eight years.
