Arrest made in Slidell puppy-snatching
SLIDELL - Police said Thursday they'd arrested a woman wanted for snatching a poodle puppy which was for sale at a Slidell feed store this week.
Officers charged Stephanie Orso, 29, with theft after her arrest Wednesday evening and said they found the puppy unharmed at her home.
Police said a Slidell officer stopped Orso for a traffic violation Wednesday evening but wasn't aware she was wanted for taking the poodle from a feed store earlier this week. The officer let Orso go, then learned shortly after the person who stole the puppy drove a vehicle which matched the one he just let drive away.
Officers went to Orso's home address and questioned her about the missing puppy. Police said she admitted to taking the poodle, which was found inside a closet where police said Orso had tried to hide it.
The puppy was returned to its owner unharmed and Orso was booked into the parish jail.
