SLIDELL - Police arrested a man in connection with a murder in Slidell from the beginning of the year.

Investigators charged Michael G. Smith Jr., 20, with second-degree murder in the death of Warren Pryor, 21.

Police said Smith shot and killed Pryor on Jan. 7, then drove the victim's car to New Orleans where it was later found burned. The next day Smith surrendered to New Orleans Police in a different homicide case.

Slidell Police said they received forensic evidence earlier this month which linked Smith to Pryor's killing, and got a warrant for his arrest. They said he will be transferred back to Orleans Parish Prison in the next few days.

Investigators said they're still trying to determine the motive for the murder.
