Arrest made in N. 17th Street shooting

BATON ROUGE - Police arrested a man in connection with a shooting that left a 14-year-old dead and injured another 20-year-old man.

20-year-old Carson Thomas was taken into custody Monday night and booked into East Baton Rouge Parish Prison on charges of first degree murder, attempted first degree murder and illegal use of a weapon.

14-year-old Desmond Bryant died Sunday night at around 8 p.m. as a result of injuries sustained during the shooting that happened Friday night at around 10:10 p.m. in the 1800 block of North 17th Street.

Police said two victims were struck by gunfire while in their vehicle. The 20-year-old driver of the vehicle sustained minor injuries during the shooting.

The incident remains under investigation.
