Arrest made in morning murder
BAKER - Police arrested a Baker man this evening in connection with a shooting death earlier today.
Chief Mike Knaps said investigators arrested Kyran Davonta Eby, 21, after he turned himself in.
Knaps said officers learned Eby'd had an argument with Garland Ruffin, 33, outside an apartment complex on Kimberlain around 11 a.m. At some point during the argument police said Eby shot Ruffin, then left the scene with a woman.
Ruffin was taken to Lane Memorial Hospital where he was pronounced dead. Police said Eby turned himself in several hours later.
Officers booked Eby into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison on charges of second degree murder and illegal use of a weapon.
