Arrest made in July 4 bridge shooting
BATON ROUGE - Police in Baton Rouge arrested a man in connection with a shooting that happened on the Mississippi River Bridge July 4, and closed one side of I-10 over the bridge for hours.
Cpl. Tommy Stubbs said Eric Jackson, 35, of Port Allen faces charges of attempted second degree murder, illegal use of a weapon and being a felon in possession of a firearm.
Stubbs said investigators questioned Jackson the night of the shooting, but didn't have enough evidence to arrest him. He said detectives later interviewed more witnesses who identified Jackson as the shooter.
Police believe the shooting stemmed from an argument between Jackson and the 27-year-old victim over a woman.
