Arrest made in 2010 double murder
BATON ROUGE - Baton Rouge police say they arrested a man in connection with murdering two people back in October 2010.
Officials say Ahmad Murphy, 29, was arrested Tuesday night for the killings of Alton Spears, 31, and Johnny Kelley, 56.
The murders happened behind a group home on October 19th 2010 on Delphine Street near Government Street. Police responded to reports of gun shots at around 3 a.m. but didn't see any evidence of a shooting. About 3 hours later, police got calls about the two victims. By the time police made it to the area, the Spears and Kelley were dead.
Officials say Murphy was being investigated for other unrelated misdemeanor crimes when they made the connection.
No word yet on a possible motive, but officials say they believe there will be more arrests.
Murphy is charged with two counts of first degree murder and illegal use of a weapon.
