BATON ROUGE - A 13-year-old Capitol Middle School student is under arrest after school officials said they found a loaded pistol in their bookbag.

School officials found a loaded .380 caliber handgun in the booksack of the sixth-grade student, while getting in the middle of an argument between two students.

Baton Rouge Police say the gun was stolen. The School Drug Task Force was called in to handle the investigation.

The student will be charged with carrying a firearm by a student on school property, and illegal possession of a stolen firearm.

Students who know anything about this incident or similar incidents should tell a school administrator, anonymously contact the East Baton Rouge Sheriff's Office at 225-389-5000, or text "CS225" plus their message to CRIMES (274637).
