BATON ROUGE- Police told News 2 today they've arrested one person in connection with a man found dead in the trunk of a car Thursday morning.
Cpl. L'Jean McKneely said police arrested Damarcos Gross, 19, today in suspicion of accessory to first-degree murder, accessory to arson and theft.
McKneely said investigators believe Gross had an argument with the victim, 27-year-old Clifton Walker, after which Walker was hit by his own car and put in its trunk.
He said the suspect also tried to burn the vehicle after parking it behind a business on Evangeline Street, where it was found Thursday morning.
"He did know him, they had some type of association but right now all of that is under investigation. This was not a random act," says Cpl. L'Jean McKneely.
Police also believe Gross didn't act alone.
"We believe that there was another accomplice involve, we're getting some stories from him saying that someone else committed the murder," says McKneely.
A tip led investigators to arrest Gross and charge him with accessory to the crime, according to McKneely.
Police expect other arrests in this case, and ask anyone with information to contact the Violent Crimes Unit at 389-4869.
