LITTLE ROCK, Ark.- Arkansas will play its traditional season-ending game against LSU on its Fayetteville campus this year, citing the desire to play in a larger stadium and the need to avoid a three-game road trip.
The Razorbacks had played LSU at Little Rock's War Memorial Stadium every other year since 1992, when Arkansas joined the Southeastern Conference. Back then, there was no four-lane highway to Fayetteville and many students wouldn't be in town for a Thanksgiving weekend game anyway.
But now, the Fayetteville stadium seats more than 70,000, while War Memorial seats about 55,000.
In recent years, the LSU game has often been the most high-profile game played in Arkansas. In five of the series' last nine games, at least one has been ranked fifth or higher. LSU was No. 1 twice.
