Architect touts plans for Donaldsonville park
DONALDSONVILLE, La. - Ascension Parish officials are hoping to launch the first phase of a $10 million renovation of the South Louisiana Fairgrounds during the next year.
Eric Poché, a landscape architect with the Baton Rouge design firm SJB Group, said at a recent community meeting that a $250,000 spray park was expected to be part of the parish's 2013-14 budget.
The Advocate reports Poché's plans for the fairgrounds include the spray park, three new softball fields, outdoor basketball courts, a skate park, children's soccer/football fields, a playground, lake, walking track, upgraded parking, concessions, restrooms and multi-purpose buildings.
He says he's been working on the renovation proposal for several months and is seeking feedback from the public. If necessary, he says, the plan could change "at the drop of the hat."
