Archbishop allows coed football
PHILADELPHIA- The Catholic sports league can field coed football teams after a decision by the Archbishop of Philadelphia. The decision comes in response to a request by an eleven-year-old girl who's been playing football with boys since kindergarten. Caroline Pla has played the past two years in a Catholic Youth organization league and learned during last season an overlooked boys-only rule would be enforced next season. Archbishop Charles Chaput says girls can play football but the approval is conditional and could be changed. Pla's mom says "it's a great step for the future of the church."
