APSO: Witnesses trapped teen breaking into cars
GONZALES - Gonzales residents surrounded and trapped a 16-year-old boy after they said he tried to break into several cars in the area, according to the Ascension Parish Sheriff's office.
Deputies recieved a call Monday night after Gonzales residents saw a man trying to burglarize a number of vehicles along Essen Trace Drive. They said witnesses stopped the teen and kept him at the scene until they could arrive.
Deputies said when they searched the teen they found an iPod which had been taken from a nearby car.
Deputies booked the teen into the St. James Youth Detention Center on charges of simple burglary, attempted simple burglary, criminal trespassing, and illegal possession of stolen things.
