PRAIRIEVILLE - Sheriff's deputies said a man stuffed a dozen cartons of cigarettes down his pants while his partner distracted a store clerk during a recent robbery in Ascension Parish.

Deputies said it happened at the Oak Grove Exxon Station on Airline Highway May 31.

Investigators said two men came into the store, and one distracted the clerk by dropping a glass bottle on the floor. While the clerk dealt with it, deputies said the other man stuffed a dozen cartons of cigarettes down his pants and fled the store.

Deputies said the man who dropped the glass bottle stayed with the clerk to distract her while his partner made off with the stolen cigarettes.

Investigators asked anyone with information about the robbers' identities to call them at (225) 621-INFO (4636) or by texting 847411 to their anonymous tip line.
