APSO: Six arrested, one wanted in drug operation
DONALDSONVILLE - Sheriff's deputies in Ascension Parish said an undercover operation led to them taking several suspected drug dealers and others off the streets of Donaldsonville.
Chief Tony Bacala said the investigation started July 25, and led to six drug arrests. Investigators said they're also looking for an seventh suspect.
Bacala said undercover investigators bought heroin, cocaine, hydrocodone and synthetic marijuana during the Donaldsonville operation. They arrested four suspected street-level dealers: 28-year-old Travis Foster, 22-year-old Aquendes Desira, 27-year-old Zachary Henry, and 34-year-old Jeffrey Johnson, Jr.
They also obtained a warrant for another suspected dealer, 41-year-old Henry Knockum, but haven't been able to locate him.
Investigators also arrested 26-year-old Neilda Coupel after they said they saw her making a drug deal from her car, and arrested 27-year-old Marishell "Koolaid" Ealem for conspiracy to distribute heroin.
Residents think the arrests will put a dent in the drug scene in Donaldsonville.
"I think it can, I really do, because I know they're gonna be scared, because if they're selling it, it's like, am I gonna next one to be found, because I'm sure, if that was me, that's what I'd be thinking," said Geraldine Melancon, who was pleased to see the arrests.
Anyone with information on Knockum's location or any illegal drug activity in the parish should contact the APSO Narcotics Division at (225) 621-8350, or by texting 847411 to their anonymous tip line.
