APSO: Convicted felon arrested on drug charges
DONALDSONVILLE - Sheriff's deputies in Ascension Parish said they arrested a convicted felon on drug charges in Donaldsonville Tuesday night.
Detectives arrested Gregory Sharat, 33, after they searched his home on W. Hwy 18 and located pills, marijuana and a large quantity of cocaine. Detectives said they also seized a handgun.
Deputies said they estimated the street value of the seized narcotics to be about $4,500.
During the search, detectives said they found two children in the home, removed them from the property and released them to a relative.
Sharat is a convicted felon with prior drug offenses, and was also wanted on failure to appear in court on other charges, according to deputies.
He was booked into Ascension Parish Jail on Aug. 5 and is charged with four counts distribution of cocaine, possession with intent to distribute cocaine, possession with intent to distribute hydrocodone, illegal carrying of weapons, possession of firearm by a convicted felon, possession of marijuana, possession of a legend drug, five counts failure to appear in court and possession of a Controlled Dangerous Substance in the presence of a minor.
