ASCENSION – A body found in Bayou Lafourche off of Highway 1 on Thursday afternoon has been identified.

According to the Ascension Parish Sheriff's Office, the woman has been identified as 40-year-old Nicole Jackson of Dondaldsonville.

The sheriff's office says that an autopsy revealed that Jackson had no signs of trauma that indicated foul play, however an investigation into her death is still pending.

According to Chief Deputy Bobby Webre, a truck driver traveling over a small bridge between LA 308 and LA 1 spotted the body in the water around 2 p.m. on Thursday and immediately called the sheriff's office.

Anyone with information on this case is urged to call the Ascension Parish Sheriff's Office at 225-621-INFO (4636).
