APSO: Belle Rose man arrested for attempted murder of police officer

BELLE ROSE - Assumption Parish Sheriff's narcotics officers arrested Russell Prean, 30, the night of June 12, on one count each of Attempted Murder on a Peace Officer, Aggravated Flight from an Officer and Possession with intent to Distribute Schedule II (cocaine/crack cocaine) Controlled Dangerous Substances, according to a release.

Prean, of 220-A Freetown Lane, Belle Rose, LA, attempted to flee a sting operation coordinated by the APSO Narcotics Division, and in the process, nearly struck an officer with his vehicle.

Officers gave chase to Prean, who was later apprehended behind the residence of 187 Freetown Lane.
