BATON ROUGE - People burned out of their apartments in Baton Rouge after a recent fire spent today cleaning up the mess and salvaging what they could.

It's believed an oxygen tank helped fuel the fire Tuesday at the Oaks of Kingsbridge apartment complex off Sherwood Forrest. People who live nearby say the tanks blew up and rattled windows in the complex.

The fire left several families homeless, and those who lost everything are trying to start over.

"We're trying to get everything out of the house that's not damaged, that's not burnt up. Just trying to salvage everything that we can," said Javier Hooker.

The American Red Cross is assisting families affected by the fire.
