BATON ROUGE - The Baton Rouge fire department is investigating an apartment fire that caused about $75,000 worth of damages.

The fire happened outside of the apartment and then started spreading upstairs on Sunday. It happened in the 1100 block of North Donmoor Avenue around 12:30 a.m.

Fire officials ruled the fire as an accident and said they don't suspect foul play to be involved. Firefighters said they arrived on scene to find fire coming from one of the down stairs apartment.

They said  the building received heavy fire and smoke damage. Fire officials said about 6 people were living and working in the building.
