AP Source: Saints safety Bush has fibula fracture
METAIRIE - A person familiar with the injury says New Orleans Saints safety Rafael Bush has a fractured fibula in his right leg which will likely be surgically repaired.
The person says it remains unclear if Bush will have to miss the rest of the season. The person spoke to The Associated Press Monday on condition of anonymity because the team has not disclosed the injury.
The injury occurred in the fourth quarter of Sunday's 27-10 loss to Cincinnati. After the game, Bush told teammates and reporters that he fractured his tibia. However, the person who spoke to the AP says Bush mistakenly used the wrong anatomical term.
The fibula is a smaller bone which bears less weight than the tibia, and the recovery time is often shorter.
